ABCD objective

This week I just realized that the objective of a lesson / course must contain aspects, namely ABCD.

ABCD objective sounds like this:
"C: Given a sentence written in the past or present tense, A: the student B: will be able to re-write the sentence in future tense D: with no errors in tense or tense contradiction (i.e., I will see her yesterday.)."
(taken from http://ets.tlt.psu.edu/learningdesign/objectives/writingobjectives/)

At first, it seemed quite strange. However, ABCD objective, short for Audience, Behavior, Condition, and Degree, is actually very useful for us to always remember that an objective needs to state "who" that needs to achieve the objective, "what" the audience or students achieve the objective, "how" and "how far" they should fulfill the objective.

Week 1 - Preliminary

This is my first academic blog. Normally, I blog using wordpress.com; therefore, I'm still getting used to the way of blogging of Blogger.com.

I choose the name 'qui docet discit' for my blog, meaning 'he who teaches, learns', because it quite summarizes my view on teaching and learning in general. Learning is a never-ending task or adventure through our lifetime. Although I am already an English instructor, I still learn many things from my students, even for things I thought I already knew.
